Drama Theatre Named After Hovhannes Abelian

The State Theater of Gharakilisa was opened in 1931 and was the third theater in the republic.

The theater is actively working with the Vanadzor branch of the institute of theatre and cinematography. Students often participate in new theater productions, sometimes their works are included in the theater schedule.

The play schedule of the theater, which is loved by everyone, consists of the works of classical, world, national and modern dramatists. The actors have received many honorary awards, which once again proves the professionalism of the theater staff. The Drama Theater named after Hovhannes Abelyan is considered one of the best theaters in Armenia.
